Which Ubuntu for My Toshiba Laptop?

I just won a used Toshiba Satellite laptop in an auction where I work for $150. P4 1.8 GHz CPU, 256 megs RAM, 30 gig drive, DVDROM drive.

What would be the best flavor of Ubuntu to put on there, in terms of maximum performance and minimum interface cruft?
