Hello there..
I am a complete noob, first and foremost. I just started getting into computer programming, I'm on the very surface of the surface.. I currently run Windows Vista.. it's driving me insane. I want to rip my hair out.
A friend of mine recently told me about Linux. I had heard of it before, but I want to try it out now. I have some concerns, as I've never run this program before and I do need my laptop to meet my needs. My friend wants to wipe my hard drive and replace it with Linux.
Here are the details.
I have an HP Pavilion dv2000; it has a built in DVD burner, webcam, and mic.
I bought this computer when I moved to California; it was an emergency and I couldn't afford the Mac Book I wanted. I don't ask much of this thing, but using Vista is like having to battle your computer each and every day. -_- I've also compared the use of Vista to wrestling a greased pig with flippers.
Right now all I need this computer to do is run AIM and MSN, a functioning web browser, World of Warcraft, GIMP, iTunes, and a decent video editing program. Will all of this and my cam, mic, and DVD burner run OK on it if I put Linux on it?
Thank you for your time.
