new Dell Mini 12

Recieved a Dell mini 12 today pre-installed with Ubuntu. I bought it for $300 off outlet.dell.com .

Now I live in a neighborhood where I can see 25+ 802.11* basestations from my living room, and half of them are open base stations. I also run my own.

Well the Dell would not connect "Automatically" to anything. I figured with that many wireless basestations linux would find one to connect to but no :(

I had to manually configure it to connect to my personal one which worked fine.

It also came pre-installed with Dell's Launcher application. Now if this laptop were for me I'd remove it, but it's not. It's for my dad so he can read email when he travels. So for my dad, the Dell Launcher actually makes Linux pretty mass consumable (read: easy to use).
