Stupid question #4096

I've a dual boot system. Is it possible to share a MySQL database mounted on a mutually accessible partition between Windows and Linux? Are the file formats compatible? I figured I'd ask if anyone has attempt such sharing before I gave it a go. Maybe I'm choosing the wrong search terms, but i couldn't Google out the answer.
