using Gnapster behind a firewall...
Maybe someone here can give me some advice. I'm running a linux box for my firewall. It runs the Frazierwall, which is basically another flavor of the Linux Router Project. I run this off a single floppy in a Pentium 100 with 16 megs ram, no hard drive, with 2 NICs, one connected to RoadRunner through a Motorola Surfboard cable modem and the other runs into a Linksys hub. I have a linux system and windows 2000 system (obtaining IPs through DHCP) networked into the hub.
Most apps run fine, including Napster in Windows 2000, but I want to run Gnapster on my linux system. Problem is, no downloads want to start, which I understand is a common problem with Gnapster and firewalls..
What action should I take to get this working. Should a file be modified in the Masquerading config on the router to allow connects through port 6699? Does that sound right at all? The gnapster folks suggest remapping a port.. I'm new to this linux stuff.. anyone use a firewall with gnapster with good results?
