I'm new to this linux thing...
So, I dont know a thing about Linux, and I just installed it today. However, I'm having problems with getting it to work.
I did an internet install of Red Hat 8.0; ie, I dont have any linux install CD's. Though, I do have a boot floppy and an install floppy.
Okay, I have two hard drives, one is installed with win XP, and the other is installed with Linux.
The system is set up to dual boot using the Grub booter.
I just installed Linux, and I have yet to actually be able to get it to work.
Whenever I try to boot linux using Grub I get this:
      Booting 'Red Hat Linux (2.4.18-14)'
root (hd1,1)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partitiontype 0x83
Kernal /vmlinuz-2.4.18-14 ro root=LABEL=/
     [Linux-bzImage, setup=0x1400, Size=ox10ea0d]
Error 28: Selected item cannot fit into memory
Also, I cannot boot using a boot disk, as it freezes while its doing checks: it freezes while its "Checking Module Dependancies"
The second hard drive (20 gig) is partitioned into 4 parts, a Fat32 section thats 6.3~ish gigs. And the remaining space is divided into 3 linux sections one is 102 mb (the root section above), 11.76 gigs, and another that is 447 mb and set as the active partition (though, I dont think/know if that has any bearing).
During install I chose to have the linux installer to auto partition the linux partitions. I'm guessing I have to increase the partition size on the two smaller linux partitions, but I have no clue how to do partitioning with linux.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
