Now who's familiar with Mandrake 9?

I tried getting gentoo, as a few of you suggested, but the install process didn't like me. We fought, it won, so I just threw on Mandrake. Anyway, everything's all happy and cool and the system runs fine, but while trying to mount my windows network shares, I must have entered something wrong because now every time I try to open /mnt, nothing shows up and that window freezes. I managed to successfully mount a few shares to other places, and apparently mandrake saved it all because those mounts show up after reboots, and /mnt still freezes every tiem I try to browse to it. I'm still just barely past the newb phase so any help would be great.
