Hi There

Well, I'm not big on introductions, but for this one I figured "what the hell".

My name is Ben, I'm 26 and I'm a Unix addict. I live here in the USA where I work as a Systems Administrator during the day, and as a Tech Support Monkey at a large local ISP part time. I've been using RedHat Linux since way back in the RedHat 6 days, and have also occasionally dabbled with Slack and other distros. My other preferred *nix are OpenBSD, FreeBSD and Mac OS X.

And yes, I'm also a Mac Geek as well. Bought my iBook a year ago to replace my aging IBM ThinkPad, and I'm in love with Mac OS X. I'm not going to preach about it, let's just say that I used to hate Macs. 'nuff said :).

I'm also lucky to have an employer that has a ton of cool hardware that I get to have free reign on. Well, beside the evil, evil dual P4 Xeon Novell NetWare/GroupWise server that is.. :). My current project is getting Linux to run on our IBM iSeries model 820. The thing has two Power4 CPU's. Should be kind of fun to compile kernels on, don't ya think? If anyone has any experienc with this platform, please let me know.

At home I have a RedHat 7 fileserver (the usual, pr0n and mp3's), router box/WAP (P200 with two ethernet cards and one 802.11 card), and webserver. I think I need to do some server consolidation. Heh. I've also been meaning to dabble with Debian, but I just haven't had time as of late.

So, there is me. Hi. Glad to find a Linux community here on LJ.
