Hey all,

I have a p2 266 comp (32 ram, I think) that I'd like to get a desktop distro working on. Knoppix runs fine, but it's slower than molasses, and for my purposes I need something that will run with pep and vigor.

This computer will go to someone who is clueless about computers. He's dirt poor, so getting legit MS stuff running for useful programs is out of the question. Previously, the comp had win95, but that melted down pretty fast. I'm thinking win98 or ME might hold out longer, but the prices are high and I'm not even sure ME and beyond would run smoothly on hardware this old.

Overall, if I could put a small, fast, easy to use distro on the box, it would probably meet the needs of the guy getting the computer. No internet for him (too expensive), so security and 'net programs are a non-issue.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer on an easy to use, lightweight distro.
