Cross-Compiler Tools

I'm looking for some cross-compiler tools tools and information. The target system I want to compile for is a Motorola PPC 8xx embedded system. My workstation is a Gentoo box, and I have access to Redhat box as well -- both are x86s. If anyone has any experience with cross-compiling in general or can point me in the correct direction I'd certainly appreciate it. Thanks.
