Migration

Every day I read something about Linux...and I really want to move to Linux.
I have RedHat 8, the 3 primary CDs.

But it's going to be a bitch to migrate. I keep wanting to simply wait until I get a new computer. Put Linux on the new one, keep XP on this old one.

But now I want to put Linux on my current one, badly.

Here's my problems:
1) I have a 20GB and 120GB HD.
2) There's no way in hell I'm backing all of that stuff up...it'll take 50 CDs at least.
3) I know absolutely nothing about Linux...(well, I know basics, but not much)
4) I could wipe my 20GB (which has Windows and all it's programs on it, etc.), but I want my music. My music and videos and such are on the 120GB....which is formatted as NTFS.
5) I'm lazy, and want a simple solution. HELP!!!
(I also, kinna, don't want to give away all my windows stuff just yet.)

This is what I'm thinking. I'll gladly invest in a 20GB External HD (if I can find a suitable priced one), and store everything on there until I want to use it.
I want to find a place to put all my MP3s and Videos until I can put them into Linux (some place where I can keep them as a fail-safe). But I definately do not want to invest in a 200GB Ext. HD. Unless someone can find one for as cheep as a 120GB Internal (not gunna happen).

Suggestions?
