Linux on an aging Powerbook?
I have a line on picking up a used Wallstreet PowerBook G3/233 very cheap from a friend, for use as a mobile Internet terminal. The specs on the machine he's offering me are G3 266, 64mb RAM, 4GB hard disc.
What I'm wondering is, would this machine make a good Linux box, if I were to slap Yellow Dog or some other Mac-friendly Linux onto it? Or would I be better off using OS X (I plan to upgrade the memory anyway, if I get it)? Is there a way to work around its only having one mouse button (ugh)? What kind of wireless card would I need to access 802.11 networks (would something like this one work?), and would Linux support using it on Mac hardware?
My eventual plan is to save up for a nice refurbed 700 MHz iBook which I can use as a portable media center...but I'm thinking this might tide me over for most of the other things I do until I can afford that.
Any thoughts?
