Fax serving software
Hey There
I'm facing a budgetary debacle. I have currently spent my IT budget for the next fiscal year (13 IBM ThinkPads will do that to you), and I'm facing a problem with my current Fax serving software. Currently we are running FaxServe on our NetWare 5.1 server. Right, see, that part was not my choice. I inherited the network from our now VP, and am having to find new and exciting ways to get away from the current platform.
So... the company that owns FaxServe is yanking support for the version we have. And it doesn't work with NetWare 6. Yay. So, it's either pay the $5,000 to get the upgrade, or do it my dammn self using Linux/Unix/Open Source. Obviously I would rather do the latter, not only due to cost but also due to getting away from propreitary closed source software.
Now, I know nothing about Faxserving software, but I cannot imagine it's too difficult. The current system just basically works by typing up your fax, or scanning something in as a PDF, then printing to the Fax. Select the phone number, type your name, any comments... and boom. For the ease my end users, I would like something akin to this. Again, I doubt it's too hard. I'm assuming a Linux machine with a 56K modem connected to our network could do the trick.
Just.. Fax Serving software. Any suggestions?
