heh, while I'm at it, is there any way to make the Linux kernel not keep probing for drives on the secondary controller if there is no cable there? It takes at least 30 seconds to do this on bootup:
hdc: no response (status = 0xa1), resetting drive
hdc: no response (status = 0xa1)
hdd: no response (status = 0xa1), resetting drive
hdd: no response (status = 0xa1)

This is precious time on a server.
