using palm devices on linux

i'm considering buying a palm device soon (probably a handspring, maybe an actual palm, who knows.. haven't decided yet).

anyways, my point is... i wanted to get some feedback from you guys on any experiences you may have had using your palm device under linux (good and bad experiences). i'm trying to find out whether it will be worth it right now for me to buy one or whether getting it to run under linux will be too much of a hassle.
