Mounting NTFS in red hat 9.0

How the hell do i do it :'( . I tried mount -t ntfs dev/hda1 /nt. That is the structure the manual tells me to do but it says ntfs unsupported or some shit. I thought you could read ntfs in linux. I need to get this to work cause my fucking shit heap windows install gayed up and i cant get into it. Im too slack to back up till now but it is too late for that...
