For those of you in the vicinity of Davis, California, I invite you to join me at the LUGOD (Linux User Group Of Davis) meeting on Tuesday, October 7 (get your governor recall voting over with first, 'cause I have no idea how long this will run).

I'll be running through a bunch of slides describing how AMD64 differs from x86 and other 64-bit architectures, and then I'll informally (without slides) go through some of the differences between an x86 Linux environment and an AMD64 one. Including locations of libraries, how to get around some x86 installers determined not to install on anything except where `uname -m`=i586, and other topics which I'll try to customize to the audience (a.k.a. ad lib/make up on the fly).
