Installation Woes

I'm nearing the end of the newb phase, and I've gotten a lot of things down, but the one aspect of transitioning to linux that continues to haunt my dreams is software installation. I know everyone says that RPMs make it easy, but in a way I have MORE trouble with RPMs for one reason. This may sound like a dumb question to many of you, but when I install from an RPM, how do I RUN the program? How do I know where it is installed and how to run it?

For example, I recently downloaded and installed dcgui, a directconnect client. After finding all the dependancies I got the RPM happily installed. Only problem: now what? I've tried typing the package name into a shell prompt, trying all different forms of the package name, but none of that seems to work.

I've looked at countless tutorials, but they all end when the software is installed. They never go as far as how to RUN what you've installed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
