Webcam software?

Hey I'm a newbie to this group. Been running linux for quite awhile happily but 24 hours ago Camorama broke and no amount of unintsalling and reinstalling will put it back together again. Anyone know of a good program to take webcam stills? Don't need to videoconference (aka Gnomemeeting) and I've tried xawtv (very horrible results). Anyone know of something good that works?
