The county government for where I live (Bartholomew County, Indiana) announced in today's paper that they have replaced an expensive, aging, and failing, HP Unix system with a shiny new Linux server. It is expected to save the county slightly over twenty two thousand dollars a year simply by not needing the expensive maintenance contract that HP charged for on the Unix boxes.
The article did not state which version of Linux, but I would suspect Redhat. I'll call in to the county government's IS department tomorrow and see if I can get more details.
