well that was painless
so i just installed a new kernel on my box, and things went very smoothly. missed one option on the usb hid module, but caught it right away. *notes uptime* heh, 5 minutes =)

now that i have a working power supply i'm going to power up my alt(ernate) box and hook it up to my new (older than dirt) 11 port hub. i'm hoping to make it into an xterminal for my primary box. it does have 6 gigs... maybe i should setup a network fs. then again, it's only 6 gig =P
it's a dual boot win2k. and i've forgotten how to make the windows dual boot thing work. so i'll probably have to reinstall debian on it. *sigh* i have a cute debian net-install cd, one of those baby cds. it's just perfect =) hmm, i suppose i could grab myself another 40gig drive at some point, or an 80 if they're cheap, and then shift some files around. *shrug* yea right, money =P
