FSG board member?

I've been nominated to be a board member of the Free Standards Group. Of course, I'm honored to be considered for a board member position, but I can't figure out why anyone would want me to be on the board (other than my donation of systems to the FSG for the AMD64 LSB). It would mean I would have influence over the FSG projects such as LANANA (registering module, cron, and init routine names for standardization) and the LSB. That would be cool & all, but I don't really care about those projects. I'm debating whether to accept the nomination or see if I can find someone more useful to the FSG to take my place. I haven't accepted the nomination yet.
