This goes in the Linux – RAID- Best Design category.

I’ve been asked this question and I don’t have a “good” answer so I would be very thankful if someone could suggest an idea or two …
So I have a friend that takes wedding Photos and Video. He wants to be able to store these videos on a Linux File Server, and have quick access to them. Cost isn’t so much of an issue as far as buying many hard disks and machines to host these drives and files. It’s more important for quick access times considering they size of each Video file. I suggested 4 160gig hard drives in one machine while mirroring the data to another machine for backups.
What he needs to do, is host wedding video for people that couldn’t attend the wedding.
So there would be many connections, and many people downloading videos all at once the week after the wedding.
Omitting bandwidth cost, file types and sizes what would be the best way for him to store large video files for quick access over the web.
