Okay, so here's a random question for you guys. So I'm using putty to log in to remote *nix sessions. Now I use *emacs with Viper. (If you don't know what viper is you may safely ignore that comment). But this is a problem because when Viper's running the distinction between Alt/Meta and the ESC code becomes critical. (You suddenly have to type C-\ x to get the M-x that you normally use all the time.) And that bites. Now if you're actually AT the *nix terminal in person, you're golden. Alt is alt and ESC is ESC, and everybody's happy. So my question is, is there any way to screw with Putty so it'll send meta key codes? I know next to nothing about termcaps and such, so any help is appreciated. And I have roughly zero administrative control of the *nix account in question, in case that's relevant...
