After such good responses to this post… http://www.livejournal.com/community/linux/597731.html
I still have one lingering question…
I was price quoting to build 2 very big machines, 4 disk SCSI – RAID servers with brand new very fast processors complemented with lots of ram and I was getting up in the 4 -5 thousand plus range when another friend said that had about 20 middle range 450 – 700 MHz 128meg, 20gig corporate office machines he needed to get rid of.
They may not be the biggest machines but my question is couldn’t I build some kind of cluster to handle very large video web requests with LOT of these middle range computers.
I was thinking I would build or buy a beefy load balancer to spread out the load to 20 middle range computers?
Any more specific information that I can read about would be appreciated.
