Because bandwidth is a terrible thing to waste.
Every time RedHat releases a new version of their distrib, my cable modem slows to a crawl for about a week. ;-) 7.2 is due out Real Soon Now, so here's my last random tip for a while...
If you download an iso and it turns out bad, you don't have to download the whole thing again -- just find a RedHat mirror that does rsync and use rsync(1) to download *only the differences* between your iso and the real one.
Unfortunately, the only RedHat mirror I know of that does rsync is sunet.se, in Sweden(?), so please don't use rsync to download your entire .iso from there -- unless of course, you're already in Europe. Be nice to the transcontinental links too, m'kay?
If anyone knows of a rsyncable RedHat mirror in the States, could you post it as a comment?
Just doing my part to save bandwidth, m'am.
