linux laptop install problem
Installed Debian 3.0r2 on my Compaq Presario 2190US laptop today, but I'm having some problems still:
The machine (or, I suppose more accurately, X) refuses to recognise the video card, so X refuses to start, and I have about 2" of unused LCD the whole way round the display. According to the specifications at http://compaq.com (somewhere...), the card is an "ATI Mobility Radeon 4X AGP", with a "IGP 340M" chip; in WindowsXP it used a "ATI RS200M" driver. Does anyone know what the proper driver for this in Linux is? I've tried using both the ATI and Radeon drivers, including specifying the PCI Bus address for the card, and i still get "Fatal error: no screens found".
