CVS Problem

I got a problem with CVS that I can't solve, due to I am new to CVS at all.
What I did was to add a passwd file in $CVSROOT/CVSROOT with the cvs users I want to have. I disabled SysAuth in config and added readers and writers files.
In passwd I added anonymous: at the first line to grant anonymous access to the repository. I also modified my inetd to grant access to cvs via port 2401, method pserver.
So, :pserver:anonymous@kenny:/home/cvsroot shoulkd work, but it doesn't.
I checked the docs at cvshome.org but they didn't help me out. Anyone of you has any suggestions?
