Centrino

I just read this story on slashdot about Intel and the up comming Centrino WiFi drivers. I was one of the first people who got a Centrino laptop and installed Linux on it. I do not need WiFi since the places I goto have both WiFi and ethernet ports. Ive held off on installing ndis or buying another WiFi card, but have been eager to install native WiFi drivers. When I e-mailed Intel about drivers in late aug they said drivers should be comming out in the 4th quarter of 2003. Well its gone and past and still no drivers. Do you think this means that the drivers are going to be comming out soon? If they are does this mean they are going to be as good or even better then the Win drivers? Is Intel getting friendlier to Linux?
