"Aiptek 8000u Graphics Tablet, mousedev, hid" woes

I'm having a problem with two kernel modules under 2.6.6-rc1 - mousedev & hid. In menuconfig, there is no option to enable mousedev in the kernel or as a module, and i can't find "hid" - both of which I need for my Aiptek 8000u. The documentation for this, as far as I have been able to find, is really sparse, and the channels on Freenode have yielded virtually no useful information over the course of the past day. I'm hoping someone here can help me out. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I should probably mention that I'm running Gentoo Linux, and that I've also searched forums.gentoo.org quite extensively.
