php + slackware
So I'm thinking of loading php onto my slackware based home webserver so I can run gallery for my folks to use. I was wondering three things about php..
First, should I go with the slackware package, or are there big advantages to installing (and compiling) the package from source?
Second, does php take up a lot of processing power/memory during normal use? I'm going to be running it on a fairly busy server... I ran php on my old p133 without a hitch, but I was just curious what it's actual processing costs are.. I cant' remember - doesn it always run, or does it just run cgi style, when a php script is invoked?
Third, I've writen my own apache config file.. Is it much of a pain to add php to an apache configuration?
