PPP is fun!

(Thanks for the help. It turns out it was just jumper stuff; the box is a minimal 486 with a verified Real Modem. Now I just have to figure out how to make it authenticate.)

When Linux boots, it should identify the modem as a serial port, shouldn't it? Are there any other kernel drivers necessary for PPP other than serial port support and the PPP-related stuff in the network drivers? The kernel on this box is entirely static -- i.e. all drivers are built in, and module support is turned off.

I think I just need to adjust the jumpers (fun), but I have no idea what I'm doing WRT PPP.
