debian boot splash
hey guys,
I am trying to add a bootsplash to my SID install on my laptop. I have instructions i am using from http://hacks.oreilly.com/pub/h/3124 . These are great up until I hit the part where i make the new initial ramdisk. I run the mkinitrd and it appears to finish ok, there is no error output. I ran it with strace and noticed a lot of files it was claiming it couldn't find that are there. I was wondering if there was anything you can suggest. If someone knows of a package already setup i'm more than happy to use that.
update: I got the initrd working but now I get a kernel panic telling me it can't find modules.dep in /lib/modules/2.6.8.
I used make-kpkg kernel_image module_image to create the kernel and the installed it. Did i forget any steps?
please note: i am not talking about a grub splash image. It is a splash screen during the system boot, where it starts all the services and loads modules.
