GIMP 2.2.8 gives error message Failed to open device ‘brother2:bus1;dev1’:
Error during device I/O

Kooka 0.44 (Using KDE 3.4.2-0.fc4.1 Red Hat) gives error message Problem: No Scanner was found Your system does not provide a SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) installation, which is required by the KDE scan support. Please install and configure SANE correctly on your system.

sane-find-scanner -v says found USB scanner (vendor=0x04f9, product=0x0162) at libusb:001:009
scanimage -L says device `brother2:bus1;dev1' is a Brother MFC-420CN MFC Scanner
