setting up wireless card with linux/ubuntu

Here is my problem:

1.) I need to figure out how to set up my wireless connection through ubuntu to the internet.

2.) My ubuntu does recognize that my wireless adaptor is connected to my USB(it's a USB wireless adapter) but won't activate it to the internet. Here is more info about my wirless adaptor

3.) In my Network Setttings, there is only an option for and Ethernet Connection and a Modem connection. Not a wireless one.

4.)My wireless adapter comes with software.. do I need this software for it to work? If so, how do I install the software? I'm not familiar with ubuntu at all.. but I'm trying!

5.) Somebody recently gave me this link that seems to be the closest thing to a solution that I've found.. but I can't do step 2 because I don't have an internet connection on the computer yet so I can't get the file from the internet that I need. Perhaps there is a way to download it on this computer and put it on a disk? HELP!
