Which Distro question

(I looked through the memories and couldn't find anything, so I'm sorry if this is covered elsewhere/not allowed)

I have an older home-built system hanging around in the basement, and I'd like to resurrect it for an art center I volunteer at. All it needs to do is run firefox. But it needs to do that very simply. I'm reasonably good with computers, but all the other folks there are middle aged fashion sewers who would not get along well with a command line.

I seem to go through a "trying out linux" phase every couple of years before returning to my trusty OS X, but since this is a PC system it seemed like a good opportunity to try again. So what would your recommendation be for a really, really easy-to-use distro? The only functionality it needs is running firefox smoothly and the associated one of javascript/flash/pdf support not being hard to set up.
