Two questions - Komics and Wireless Networking
I saw that Komics 1.2 has been released, but the server that hosts the tarball seems to be down. I am running Debian and I don't think they have gotten around to packaging Komics 1.2 yet (it has only been out for 2 weeks). I was wondering if anyone might have grabbed the tarball and would be willing to share.
Secondly, I have managed to get my system fairly workable (though it has some, uh, quirks) but my wireless networking is a bit wonky.
When the system boots, it finds my Linksys WPC11 card. I get the following messages in syslog (eth1 being the wireless card):
kernel: eth1: Station identity 001f:0002:0001:0004
kernel: eth1: Looks like and Intersil firmware version 1.4.2
kernel: eth1: Ad-hoc demo mode supported
kernel: eth1: IEEE standard IBSS ad-hoc mode supported
kernel: eth1: WEP supported, 104-bit key
kernel: eth1: MAC address (withheld by me)
kernel: eth1: Station name "Prism I"
kernel: eth1: ready
kernel: eth1: index 0x01: Vcc 5.0, irq 3, io 0x100-0x013f
cardmgr[623]: executing: './network start eth1'
cardmgr[623]: + /sbin/ifup: interface eth1 already configured
Then there are a bunch of message about being in and out of range, which I get even when it is working. Then:
cardmgr[623]: executing: './network check eth1'
cardmgr[623]: executing: './network stop eth1'
kernel: orionco_lock() called with hw_unavailable(dev=dccdd800)
cardmgr[623]: executing: 'modprobe -r orionco.cs'
cardmgr[623]: executing: 'modprobe -r orionco'
cardmgr[623]: executing: 'modprobe -r hermes'
cardmgr[623]: exiting
Now, once the system boots up and I login I can issue ifdown -a and the ifup -a and the card comes up, connects and I am off and running happily.
I haven't googled the problem yet, so there may be a simple answer, but I figured if I am asking about Komics 1.2 I might as well toss this out as well :)
