email problem

Having a strange problem with a mail server I host. If you connect with a mail client, Outlook for example, it will tell you there are no new messages, or timeout. But if I log in to root I can see the messages in the new folder, waiting.

This account has worked for a long time until recently and i am not aware of making any changes to the system. Other accounts on the same system are working fine.

Any ideas?

Running QMail on RedHat Enterprise.
