SAMBA3 JOIN ACTIVE DIRECTORY?

I'm trying to join Active Directory. All i did was edited the smb.conf where it points to "ADS".

It also mentions configuring kerberos 5. What if the Windows2000 PDC doesn't have kerberos configured on that end?

I tried the net ads command to join but it says "unable to find a suitable server"

im guessing the only way for samba3 to talk to active directory is through kerberos? But krb isnt configured on the PDC, is there any other way?
