Ok so

I have my system set to console login so that I can easily install progs what need to be run without X.  That's all well adn good.  The problem is I like to use WindowMaker, but "startx" alawsy defaults to KDE.  I've found that by using "kdm" instead of "startx" lets me choose my session type, but when I do that I can no longer exit X when needed. 

Any suggestions on how to either change the default for startx to Windowmaker, or another way I can use console login but still be able to choose my desired interface?
