I run slackware on my HP pavilion laptop and I have some weird problems with it.

It seems at totally random times it just shuts itself off. I am wondering if it might be because ACPI is not set up correctly to cool the laptop the way it should. Anyone know any quick ways to check this? I have tried recompling the kernel and it sometimes shuts off in the middle of the process. It really sucks!
