I used to be absolutely religious about reading the logs on my webserver.

I read the 'messages' log today for the first time in months and came across this:

Mar 16 03:07:09 french gconfd (root-25939): starting (version 2.4.0.1), pid 25939 user 'root'
Mar 16 03:07:09 french gconfd (root-25939): Resolved address "xml:readonly:/etc/opt/gnome/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory" to a read-only config source at position 0
Mar 16 03:07:09 french gconfd (root-25939): Resolved address "xml:readwrite:/root/.gconf" to a writable config source at position 1
Mar 16 03:07:09 french gconfd (root-25939): Resolved address "xml:readonly:/etc/opt/gnome/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults" to a read-only config source at position 2
Mar 16 03:09:09 french gconfd (root-25939): GConf server is not in use, shutting down.
Mar 16 03:09:09 french gconfd (root-25939): Exiting

Any ideas WTF? Could it be something on the update side from YAST (I'm running SuSE 9.1)?

I have no recolection of doing any such thing... especially not at three in the morning.
