Leave a message. I'll get back to you if it's important enough.
liplining: (who me? couldn't be.)
Name: Moon Hyerin
Age: 23
Birthday: December 27 (Capricorn)
Height: 5'3"
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Purple, dyed

Medical Info: Healthy. Not overly interested in sharing more, but she has noticeably few scars for someone who survived an explosion.

Physical traits: Short, strong. Toned is the word.

What's Okay To Mention Around Her: Not her having magic, unless you want a black eye. Most things are fine, but she took up a demon hunting job, so if it is anything related she will listen.

Abilities: Maaaaaagic.

Notes for the Psychics: On top: Hates djinns. Hates magic. Hates supernatural. Misses Jisoo so much it hurts. The further you get into it, the more obvious it is that the hate comes from the fear and trauma and grief. Not that she is going to admit that easily.

Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: Yeh sure.

Hugging/Kissing/Other non-violent physical contact: If you are close, maybe... but she doesn't get warm, cuddly and close to many people anymore.

Sex: Only girls who can heal her heart are allowed.

Maim/Murder/Death: Fight her all you want, she has infinite axe works.

Cooking: Not... anymore...

Moon Hyerin. 23. Human, in her own words. An average normal person living an average normal life, once upon a time. She never believed in the supernatural until it came for her head on — utterly destroying the quiet life she once happily, blissfully lived.

She lived her whole life in a small town among familiar people. When she was a freshman in high school, she met Choi Jisoo - a senior girl who had transferred into the high school when she herself was a freshman. Jisoo's father had been transferred into town by his Seoul based company. The two girls got on immediately. It did not take long for Jisoo to ask Hyerin's phone number and address, and even less time after that for her to ask Hyerin out and kiss her.

With the exception of the six weeks immediately following Jisoo's graduation, they were inseparable. Jisoo's father was recalled to Seoul at that time, but she moved back to town to stay with Hyerin. Working part-time at the bank to pay for rent and taking her college courses online was all worth it so they could stay together. Two days after Hyerin graduated high school she moved into Jisoo's small apartment.

"Together forever. Maybe even longer" was their joking promise.

As it turns out? Magic is real. Demons are real. And vengeful, spiteful djinns have no problem leveling cities with their anger.

One such djinn did just that in their town. Hosazol, Loremaster of Jewels, had been forced into captivity by an old classmate of Hyerin's named Aan Nam-gyu. He worked on Jisoo's floor of the bank and had foolishly brought in his genie to prove to his friends how powerful he had become. It was midday and like many others, Hyerin had come to visit her sweetheart at work for lunch. The main street was full of happy people and families.

Then came the explosion.

Many people died immediately. Jisoo was wounded badly. She shielded Hyerin from the shattering window. Hyerin locked eyes with Hosazol as she shoved through the rubble. Misunderstanding who and what he was, she begged him for help. Finding this funny somehow, he decided to reward Hyerin for surviving. His magic power, forcibly given, pulsed through her veins. The physical pain this brought on left Hyerin screaming and writhing before she passed out. Jisoo died before Hyerin regained consciousness.

The disaster left Hyerin lonely, grieving, and filled with an ugly hate for all things supernatural.

Hyerin is now, essentially, a genie. She still considers herself "human," though strictly speaking that is no longer true. Trying to speak of what happened is its own curse. Hyerin cannot utter the djinn's name as he willed it so. Anytime she tries to say his name, she winds up spitting out a gemstone instead.

She has come to Seoul to see all the things Jisoo wanted to show her and to mourn. She wants nothing more than to track down the djinn responsible and force him to lift his curse and retake his power, but that would probably involve admitting she has that power. Which might cut into her anger and hurt she's been nursing. Whoops.

LET'S! DEFINE TERMINOLOGY AND RULES

Djinn - A being also known as a "genie." Djinns are simply the incredibly powerful and untamed version of the same. Most have had centuries to cultivate their power and skills as all-powerful magical beings.

Loremaster - A title only found among djinns. One who bears such a title would also be known as a lord. These are so powerful that they can bestow fragments of their power in others and create more djinns and genies.

How does a djinn become a genie? - A genie has been, through either their own free will or through spellcasting and force, bound. The genie of the lamp is the most famous example. Not all genies have lamps or bottles. It is possible to tie them down to anything; a rug, a walnut shell, a compact mirror, a pocket watch, a book. If the djinn is consciously aware of the effort and does not accept this change of their own free will, it will not take. However, there exists a way to force a djinn into bondage. This involves an immense amount of magic and battle ability, for the djinn must be beaten first. Beat 'em down to seal them up and turn them.

Hosazol was not properly sealed or bonded and was only trapped in his bottle the way someone might be locked in their room. The second he was freed, he destroyed everything he could to soothe his ire. No loremaster has ever been sealed. They are simply too powerful.

Wait, so if Hyerin is a genie and not a djinn??? - Yes. She sealed herself. She did it in defiance against Hosazol who would have loved her to come join him.

How many wishes will she grant? - Think more I Dream of Jeannie than Aladdin. No limits. But she has no master either, and won't take one easily.

The name curse? - This is not unique to Hosazol. As a loremaster, he can of course bestow djinn power to others. These powers cannot be forcibly taken, but can forcibly given. As the Loremaster of Jewels, he has great ability and influence over gemstones. He simply decided that he didn't want Hyerin to be able to speak his name as a clause of giving her power. This is why she spits up rubies and emeralds when she tries. A loremaster of sand or beetles could give the same clause, to a much more terrifying end.
