Charlie Eugene Moyers made his presence on Friday August 23, 2013! A little less than 2 weeks early!! He weighed in just shy of 8 pounds...7 pounds 15 ounces! Here's the birth story!!
My whole pregnancy I just knew I HAD to have this baby on a weekend, sometime thursday - sunday because my friend Whitney is a labor and delivery nurse and I wanted NEEDED her to be my nurse. Well Thursday night at about 8pm I had just put LJ down for bed and I was about to head out the door to go to Target. Well, I decided to use the restroom before I went and noticed I had a little "leak" in my underwear. I didn't say anything to anyone and just told them I had changed my mind and was going to stay home. I sat around for an hour and nothing had happened so I got up and went into the laundry room to put away some clothes because I had done laundry that day. Well, while I was folding laundry I felt myself get wet, not extremely wet, but enough to change my pants. I felt so silly, it felt like I had just pee'd myself. I told Logan what happened and I couldn't decide what to do! I wasn't having any contractions so I felt silly going to the hospital! Well, we waited until about 10:30 when I was standing in the kitchen and there was a larger gush of liquid and by then I was pretty sure my water had broken so I hurried and packed up some things and we headed to the hospital. My mom stayed home with LJ so he could sleep. We were admitted in triage and they confirmed I had in fact broken my water and we were going to have a baby!
I got into a room by 11:30pm and they started me on some antibiotics. I had to have 2 rounds, 4 hours apart, before they could start pitocin to help me dilate because I tested positive for group B strep. Well, 5am rolls around and I was finally started on some pitocin. Thankfully, Whitney was working Friday and she came in at 7am and got permission to be my nurse all day and she was able to focus all her energy on helping me! She was seriously the BEST all day!! I couldn't have planned a more peaceful and calm delivery. She made it so nice and easy and fun.
Well, I figured since my water broke, that things would happen fast. I was so sure he would come by 10am. But 10 am rolled around and I was still only at a 4. 11am and still only a 5. Whitney decided to check me again and realized that somehow, my water had broken from the top instead of from the bottom like most women. Somehow, Charlie's head managed to create a suction which didn't allow the bottom of my water to completely rupture and we couldn't tell until the floor sack had gotten low enough to tell. So Whitney called Dr. H and he came around 11:30 and broke the rest of my water. By then I was dilated to a 6. At 12, Whitney needed to take a lunch break and so she jokingly said to me "Don't have the baby while i'm gone!" Well, I already had my epidural but I was able to feel all the pressure and move my legs a little still and at 12:15 I really felt like, man I need to push. So I shot Whitney a text telling her how much I wanted to push. She came back from lunch around 12:30 and checked me and basically gasped. She said the only thing holding Charlie's head in was the bulb from my catheter. She checked me, I was fully dilated and his head was almost out. She told me to cross my legs and roll on my side and she was going to call Dr. H. Well, It took him almost 25 minutes to show up, all the while I was gripping the bed with all my might through every contraction trying not to push. He came, started setting up his tools and Whitney was helping me get ready to push and telling me to stop laughing because Charlie was literally about to fall out. Well, 3 pushes later, I delivered a healthy baby boy with a full head of thick dark black hair. He is literally PERFECT! He is so handsome and has big beautiful eyes and lips and is covered in hair.
Charlie has been the best baby! He sleeps a lot and is happy when he's awake. He eats really good and is so cuddly. I just cant get enough of my handsome little boy. LJ is just in love with him and wants to hold him any chance he can get. Logan is the best daddy and helps me anytime I need it. I didn't change a single diaper for I think the first 5 days of Charlie's life. Thanks honey! We are all so happy and healthy and enjoying our family of 4!!
