This year’s theme, “The Power of Community,” invites participants from all walks of life to contribute to the colorful expressions of pride and resilience.

We are thrilled to announce that the City of Long Beach, in partnership with the Office of Vice Mayor and Second District Councilwoman Cindy Allen, will graciously host and sponsor the 2024 Long Beach Pride Parade. This cherished event is a highlight of both the Long Beach and the greater LA community’s annual calendar, drawing thousands of spectators and participants.

Mark your calendars for the 41st annual Long Beach Pride Parade, set to dazzle on Sunday, May 19. The parade will feature a vibrant procession along the scenic stretches of Ocean Boulevard. Saucy Santana is an American openly gay rapper, who came out when he was 17 years old. He began his career as a makeup artist for the hip-hop group City Girls before releasing his debut single, Walk Em Like A Dog, in 2019, the same year he started rapping. Later that year he released his first EP Dog Walkers. He released his debut album Keep It Playa in 2021.Outside of his work in music he has also appeared in reality TV shows such as Love & Hip Hop: Miami.

Let's welcome the Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride! The organization has served the community for over 41 years. Honoring the founders, Judith Doyle, Bob Crow, and Marylin Bartlow is the current Lez Prez, Tonya Martin and board mamers, Wayne Manus, Dr. Cassandra Richards, Elsa Martinez, Deb Kahokelle, Chris Duvalli, Gladys Lopez, Jacq Ware, Keshay Scott, and Rene Page, This year, Pride's past members are honored! They all have volunteered countless hours and have faced unspeakable acts throughout the years to bring this event so we can join together, recharge, and continue the fight for equal rights all over the world. Irene M. Gutierrez, “DJ Irene,” is an artistic sensation and “Americas Most Loved DJ.” Her music trajectory began in East L.A house parties to Circus Disco to established resident DJ at ARENA in Hollywood, CA, for 15 years, filling to 6000 capacity week after week. With 18 produced mixed albums, she is the top selling female DJ in the USA. Remixes include the likes of Lady GaGa, Madonna and a plethora of commercially successful hits, including “You're The Worst Thing For Me,” which was featured in a TV episodes of “Sex in the City & Queer for Folk” She served on the Grammy Committee for Best Dance Album and Single of the year and hosted her own international TV show “No Cover” on Mun2. Raised in a broken home, going through the foster care system, and experiencing homelessness taught her resilience to propel her to overcome challenges and become an icon. DJ Irene is proud to represent the Latin@ community in her work as a Mexican-American woman traveling the world sharing her musical talents. With a Bachelor's and Master's degree in music, Irene passionately teaches college students in urban communities, she is also an author, a speaker of the foster care system and addiction, while she continues to keep her fans dancing worldwide in the most sought-after venues.

Evan has a successful law practice specializing in Government and Administrative Law. Prior to opening his current office, he was the Contract City Attorney for the City of Lynwood. Before that, Evan was the Special Assistant City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles for four years. As the representative of Long Beach City's 1st District, Braude spear– headed downtown redevelopment, pushed for affordable housing, championed neighborhood improvement program, and successfully authored 2 major anti-discrimination ordinances regarding AIDS and LBGTQ rights. Evan has participated by either walking or riding in every Pride Parade from the year before he was elected and was the first non-LGBTQ elected official to participate in the Pride Parade & Festival. Evan was an active member of LAMBDA Democratic Club for over 20 years and received two major LAMBDA Gala Dinner awards for his support of the LGBTQ community.

Mari Jauregui aka MJ, a venerated fixture in Long Beach's LGBTQ+ community, embodies the spirit of resilience and visibility. Mari's journey with the LGBTQ+ community began at a critical point in her life, turning to the LGBTQ+ Center for guidance during her coming-out process. Identifying a gap in programming for individuals in their twenties, she not only found her place but also extended her support as a mentor for the youth, showcasing her inherent passion for nurturing the next generation. Since her initial involvement in 2017, Mari has been a dynamic force behind the Long Beach Dyke March, evolving from a participant to the esteemed co organizer. Her iconic ride, leading the parade on her Harley Davidson with a proudly waving rainbow flag, has become a symbol of pride and honor, reflecting her deep commitment to the cause. Under her leadership, Motorcycles Contingency of Long Beach aka Dykes on Bikes has flourished, amplifying the presence and voices within the LGBTQ+ community—a mission driven by her own experiences of seeking visibility and support. Mari's dedication culminated in her taking the helm of the Long Beach Dyke March in a pivotal moment, ensuring the continuation of this vital event. Her ability to mobilize and inspire, securing support from key figures and volunteers, underscores her exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the community. Her exceptional leadership exemplifies resilience and visibility, symbolizing the community’s enduring spirit. Mari’s story is a beacon of hope, showing that with dedication and passion, positive change is not just possible—it’s inevitable.

Robert Cano was born in Durango, Mexico and raised in South East LA and has been of service to the Long Beach LGBTQ Community for over 30 plus years. He started his volunteer service while he was a student at Cal State Long Beach, joining the Safer Sex Student Group that helped promote safer sex for incoming freshmen during the AIDS Pandemic. During the nineties, he volunteered for AIDS Walk Long Beach, The AIDS Food Store, Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Parade and taught at CSULB. One of his most notable accomplishment is being the Founder of The Long Beach LGBTQ Film Festival which he started in 1993, after 30 years, he has spent countless hours helping the festival grow and become the second largest LGBTQ Cultural Event in Long Beach, and the second largest fundraiser event for the LGBTQ Center of Long Beach, bringing in over $250,000 to date. Most recently in 2022 he was Honored by being Inducted with a Plaque at the Long Beach Harvey Milk Plaza. He believes lgbtq rights are human rights, and we should continue to fight for our equality and our place at the table.

Co-Founder and Executive Chair of the Harvey Milk Foundation Stuart Milk, a global LGBT rights advocate, has worked on the ground supporting struggling and emerging LGBT communities in over 60 nations on six continents. As the nephew of Harvey Milk, Stuart has expanded his uncle’s example of visibility and courage, successfully leading historic global campaigns. Stuart Milk has over three decades of leadership experience in both the public and private sector. Stuart is the recipient of dozens of prestigious global human rights awards and honors. He has worked alongside some of the most renowned world leaders of our time; however, he is most honored to continue organizing with hundreds of human rights advocates working in some of the darkest corners of our planet, which he describes as our “everyday heroes” and the main ingredient behind our equality advances today.

My name is Kelly Melvin and my pronouns are he/him. I am transgender, non-binary, aromantic and asexual. In high school, I was proudly President of our school’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance (or GSA) club. To remind myself of what my responsibilities were all about, I wrote to myself, “It is my solemn oath as president of the Genders & Sexualities Alliance (GSA) club at Browning high school to represent the needs of our club members and by extension the rest of my peers to the utmost degree of integrity.” After high school, I was invited as a guest speaker at an LBUSD high school campus to speak to students about LGBTQ+ resources and life outside of high school and answer questions. I am an active participant in the youth-centered programs of the Long Beach LGBTQ Center, where I have been both the recipient and the instigator of affirming resources, peer connections and advocacy to promote LGBTQ+ health and well-being. One of my greatest accomplishments is my publication, “Asexuals & IPV (Intimate Partner Violence): Spreading Knowledge and Sensitivity”, which has been circulated amongst staff at the Long Beach LGBTQ Center and distributed at the CSUDH Queer Cultural Resource Center.

Donzaleigh Abernathy is the youngest daughter of the American Civil Rights Movement Co-Founder Rev. Dr. Ralph David Abernathy, Sr. and Dr. Juanita Jones Abernathy. She was born in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement as her Father and his best friend, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were establishing the nonviolent social movement which changed the course of American History. Ms. Abernathy delivered her first public speech at the age of twelve years old at “The Children for Survival March” in Washington, DC. college. At the 45th Anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, she was given the distinguished honor of introducing her childhood friend, Mrs. Rosa Parks in one of her last public appearances before she died. Ms. Abernathy is a professional actress, who was a leading actor in numerous movies, and also a guest star on a large number of TV movies and TV series.

Annabelle Sedano is the news anchor for NBC4's weekday newscasts at 3 p.m. and co-anchor at 5 p.m. Sedano, who joined KNBC in March 2023, is an Emmy award-winning journalist with nearly two decades of experience covering local, national and international news ranging from California wildfires, immigration, to presidential elections. Prior to joining NBC4, she served as anchor for KMEX's morning newscast Noticias 34 at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., a position she held for 10 years. Sedano, born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Cal State Northridge. In 2013, she completed the Reporting on Health Collaborative Fellowship connected with USC Annenberg, highlighting the link between immigration status and health. She is passionate about giving back to the community and supporting issues that empower and uplift women.

Enrique Chiabra is the Anchor for Telemundo 52’s weekday early evening newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m. y 11 p.m. Telemundo 52 is Telemundo’s West Coast Flagship television station, delivering nearly 30 hours of local news and programming each week including breaking news coverage, up-to-the-minute weather forecasts, and entertainment. Chiabra joined Telemundo 52 in 2016 as the Co-Anchor for the stations weekday morning newscast, Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5 a.m. y 6 a.m. and in 2018 was named Co-Anchor for the weekday evening newscasts at 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Chiabra’s storytelling and keen journalism has earned him a GLAAD media award, a Ruben Salazar award in 2021 and 11 Emmy awards, one of them for a special three-part series surrounding human trafficking in Los Angeles. Chiabra, a native of Peru, earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UCLA in Los Angeles, California and a master’s degree in mass communication from Florida International University.
