Many years ago in a thrift store I bought an oversize 78 record,
red, from the 1920s, just because it was unusual. When I played
it at home this is the composition I heard.
I knew nothing about the piece at the time but it seemed vaguely
familiar. I strongly sensed I’d heard it somewhere, sometime, but
really I knew nothing about it then. I just liked the way it sounded,
so evocative, dream-like, and melancholy. Later I learned it was
a well known composition from a 1894 opera by Jules Massenet.
I don’t care about the opera, I just love this piece !

A few days ago the majority of this site was scraped for content.
It’s very upsetting that these sleazy people can just steal at whim anything and everything. . Out of 230 posts only 10 were not stolen — this time anyway. . 2 times previously, I’ve had maybe 40 copied at once, by somebody obviously up to no good. This time along with the 220 posts, they also stole 2 pages, with lists of all the music and vintage films. . . gggrrr..
I normally have around 10 views, so imagine my surprize when the stats showed a crew of 305 visitors and 323 views (separate attacks) of my content – all at the same time.
I have been unsuccessful in tracking down the plagiarism, for these as well as the previous thefts, which is highly annoying !. .
What’s strange about this incident is that the stats show a list of 47 countries for visitors – all at the same time ! I don’t know how they did that but guessing that they are intending to obscure their actual location, although the US has the highest number of views, followed by Brazil and India..

I was just remembering my bear experience from many years ago.
My first husband and I were in France for a working vacation. We went to a zoo where the animals roamed free but the people stayed in their cars on the road (a safari zoo). There were signs all over, in 8 languages – Stay in Your Car, Windows Closed – and – Do Not Feed the Animals ! There were many ‘NO’ signs, the red circle with the slash – with an image of a person feeding an animal. — the international signage for NO.. .DO NOT. . .
but these people thought — that doesn’t mean ME, and l will do as I please.
.Somebody far ahead of us in line was giving a giraffe some carrots or something, so that the cars behind weren’t moving. Then at the car right in front of us a Black Bear came to the car ! because he smelled food through an open window, the driver was eating a sandwich. The bear came to the window and this moron gave him the sandwich, then rolled up the window. The bear pushed against his door a few times, rocking the car, after more food of course – then jumped onto the hood, denting it, pawing at the windshield. .
The guy’s wife was punching him in the arm, like ‘You idiot, look what you’ve done !’ and the bear started pulling on the windshield wipers, snapping them like rubber bands. . thwack thwack thwack. . Actually that part was a little funny, because it was him, and Not me, with a big ole bear on his car, playing with the wipers. . . haha. The guy leaned on his horn a few times and luckily the bear got down and left., shooting the guy a dirty look. .But the bear could have easily come to our car next, just because we were close and he was pissed off !
That idiot was a lucky man that day ! The bear could have gotten in his car, really – they can smash the windows and rip the doors off just because they smell food inside. I’ve seen videos of that from park rangers. And of course bears are predators – in the wild can stalk and attack – and kill hikers and campers – and EAT THEM !. Some were taking selfies with a bear in the background. . Their last photo ever.

The series has 69 episodes, with various other kitties and a dog adding to the household. . . Episodes include things like introduction of a new kitten (‘I’ll Kill you !’), Sylvester’s frequent evil schemes, and his dairy, Sylvester’s catnip overdose, Sylvester in jail (the shelter ).
. .The series ended with the death of Steve Cash in 2020, and Sylvester passed on a few months later.

The US State Dept. is strongly advising citizens Not to travel to, or remain in Venezuela due to the danger of rampant attacks of robbery and kidnapping, unlawful detention, and incidents of torture and murder. They emphatically note that the State Dept. is unable to help in any way whatsoever, any US citizens in trouble there – the Embassy is closed, since March 2019. Regarding wrongful detention of US citizens, their government is anti-democracy, oppositional and uncooperative, with communication to, and from detainees blocked. The bordering countries of Guyana, Brazil and Colombia have travel advisories as well.

Security forces have detained U.S. citizens for up to five years without respect for due process. The U.S. government has no way to contact U.S. nationals detained in Venezuela, and those detained are not allowed to contact family members or independent legal counsel. Violent crimes, such as homicide, armed robbery, kidnapping, and carjacking, are common in Venezuela. Political rallies and demonstrations occur, often with little notice. Police and security forces have instituted a brutal crackdown on pro-democracy or anti-regime demonstrations, including the use of tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets against participants, which occasionally devolve into looting and vandalism.
Colombian terrorist groups operate in Venezuela’s border areas with Colombia, Brazil, and Guyana. Shortages of gasoline, electricity, water, medicine, and medical supplies continue throughout much of Venezuela.

I got an email recently from YouTube stating that I had = seriously violated their child safety content policy = and therefore they were terminating my YouTube channel (with no warning). What the hell !
Apparently they are in effect saying that I’m participating in the victimization of minors. NO. No. I am NOT ! N O
I had a small channel, non-monetized or sponsored, just me making a few innocent G-rated videos from clips that had nothing whatsoever to do with, or about minors in any way ! The most recent video was over 5 years ago— so w t f, YouTube !

I have no idea whatsoever what they are talking about as my ‘severe and frequent violations’. I guess it’s a big secret or something, because they never said WHAT exactly I supposedly did. No documentation provided, not even when I requested it.
So I made my appeal stating that an error had been made, with the facts supporting my innocence of these accusations. YouTube itself states that violations of content are flagged by an automated function as well as other users reporting violations. They also state that an appeal may, or may not, be reviewed by a human. A quick response stated that they had ‘carefully reviewed my content’ (they did Not) and their decision stands. No humans involved.
I made a second appeal again stating the facts of wrongful termination and tagged it ‘human review’- hoping against hope that an actual person is in there somewhere. That may be – but not for me, my 2nd appeal was denied immediately, automatically, in 10 seconds.
Nobody looked at it, how silly of me to believe somebody would listen to me ! I wonder if this is happening to other people – but there’s no way to tell anyone, with being blocked from interacting or communicating with anyone on the site..
So if you have a YouTube channel – beware – this could happen to you too.

A beautiful and emotionally powerful love song by Tim Buckley from the Happy-Sad album, 1969... . His best known song was ‘Once I Was ( a soldier)’ – used to great effect in the 1978 film ‘Coming Home’ with Jon Voight, Jane Fonda & Bruce Dern.

I saw the movie recently for the first time since the 70s to check out the dancing. Oddly I don’t really remember this line dance part but now it’s my favorite part. There’s just something so wholesome and fascinating about it and I like the song.
Then I discovered it was, and may still be, a ‘thing’ that various groups of folks do. There’s a 2011 video from England of a flash mob doing the dance in a big plaza. A core group of maybe 10 people started and others joined in until there were around 60, some who knew the steps and also people winging it. Lots of spectators and everyone had fun

An intriguing phrase. .
On many old brick buildings around London are signs saying ‘Ancient Lights‘ marked beneath
individual windows. The phenomenon is not unique to London. The signs can be found in Dorset, Kent, and other places across England. What is this ?
‘Ancient Lights’ or the ‘Right to Light’ is an English property law that gives property owners the right to receive natural light from and through a window if that particular window has been receiving light uninterrupted for 20 years.
Once a person gains the right to ancient lights, an owner of the adjoining land cannot obscure them by erecting a building, raising a wall or planting trees.

1990 live. I had a 4th row seat at the Highwaymen concert, Oakland Paramount Theater, November 1991.
I was sitting kitty-corner behind June Carter ! So Johnny Cash was looking in that direction when I waved at him, being silly, and he looked at me, like ‘Who is that?’ like he thought he should know me.
Later in the concert each man did his big hit. When Willie sang You Were Always on My Mind, Waylon and Kris were grabbing some water and a smoke, but Johnny Cash stood mesmerized and reverent to Willie singing, it was a powerful moment.
One of my best memories ! a great all-star concert experience.
