A Scruffy Christmas with Make it Crafty

I've been in a crafty slump recently, but Zoe's amazing Christmas discount offer & inspiration has got my fingers tingling & wanting to colour again.  I decided to colour Scruffy as he looks as though he's a little down in the dumps like I've been - and he's so darn cute!!! No way of staying grumpy when he's around - he definitely made me smile - I hope he does you too.

Image

Clean & simple as is my favourite style. I've teamed him with words from the Christmas Adapt-a-word & three sizes of Star Tinklings. Here's his close up. He's caught the light a bit so looks a bit shiny which he isn't in real life. I had fun colouring the bells to make them look rounded.

Image

I coloured the chippies with gold gel pen & added a layer of Stickles Stardust. I've said it before & I'll say it again - I LOVE Chippies!!!

Image

The Tinkling Stars are so shiny!

Image

I hope Scruffy has made you smile. Don't to check out the Christmas Specials section on the Make it Crafty website - there's 20% off a range of Christmas digis, rubbers stamps & chippies. It's for a limited time only so don't miss out!

Dimension Challenge with Tiddly Inks Stamps

I had such fun creating this for the Dimension Challenge over at Tiddly Inks Stamps Challenge blog. Whenever I have a dimensional challenge the shadow boxes from Make it Crafty spring straight to mind. I love the amazing effect they give! I've used the Thin Circle Shadow Box as a base for Rudolf Reindeer and his friends and love how they're flying through the sky!

Image

I used the Confetti Sparkle digi paper from The Lovely Studio as the background and finished it with the Happy and Christmas layered words from Make it Crafty.

Image

You can see all the dimension! The reindeer are flying across the sky! I love how the shadow boxes from  Make it Crafty come with a flat packed 3D stand so they are freestanding. So clever!

Image

I layered the second and fourth reindeer to add even more dimension & the whole string is lifted from the outer circle with foam pads.

Image

Here's a close up of Rudolf Reindeer. I used him four times, but with different scarf colours, noses and spot colours on their rump they don't immediately appear to be the same image. I've added a touch of Stardust Stickles to the top of the scarves & some of the stars to give a bit of shimmer.

Image

Here's a close up of the Happy and Christmas layered words from Make it Crafty

I hope you like my creation and will come and join in the Dimension Challenge over at Tiddly Inks Stamps Challenge blog

A Flowery Card with Make it Crafty

I'll freely admit that I've had a major crafting slump & have struggled to create anything over the last few months. I mentioned this to Zoe & she decided to set me a challenge to get my mojo working again. This is what she set me....

Image

Now I'll freely admit I sat with my mouth open at this - I mean I love flowers in real life, but they never tend to be the first thing I go to to colour. Fussy cutting .... layering ..... argh!!!!

OK big breaths ..... big girl pants on and off I go.

Actually I'll admit it took me nearly two weeks to get crafting, but I'm pleased with what I produced in the end. Here it is.

Image

Here's a close up of the main rose & leaves from the main rose and leaves from the Floral Elements Three Digi Stamps Set. The set contains two rose heads, three smaller flower/ buds and some leaves. They're in .PNG format so are really easy to layer and build into an arrangement.

Image

I layered the elements together & printed them all as one and then with some of the leaves & the flowers separately. Once I'd coloured them I used my Silver Bullet Cutting machine to print & cut them (yes I cheated - I didn't fussy cut by hand). I layered the different elements using 1mm, 2mm and 3mm foam pads.

Image

As a finishing touch I added clear Wink of Stella to some of the petals.

Image

I coloured the 2 inch Hello Brush Script Word Chipboard with my Copics and then added a layer of Stickles Stardust.

Image

I finished it off with a layer of Glossy Accents on the chippie & Stickles & Glossy Accents on the bubble elements.

Image

I hope you like my creation. It's taken a while but I think my mojo is finally beginning to return. I'm happy as I've really missed crafting!

Colour Challenge with Tiddly Inks Stamps

Well my crafting mojo seems to have been in hibernation for the last few months. I'm hoping the change in the season & this colour challenge from Tiddly Ink Stamps will help. The challenge was to use a colour swatch as inspiration so I paired Greeting Fairy (one of my favourites) with some papers from Samantha Walker Autumn Harvest pack.

Image

Here's the colour scheme I was following - not my normal 'go to' colours at all!

Image

Here's Greeting Fairy's close up. I added shimmer to her dress & full on sparkle to her wings. Well I mean a fairy has to have sparkly wings doesn't she?

Image

The sentiment is typed & then I added two layers of clear Sakura Glaze pen.

Over the Rainbow with Make it Crafty

I had a bumper delivery of Chipboard a week or so ago! Oh how I love Make it Crafty Chippies! They're so easy to use & so versatile and very reasonable to post from Oz to the UK.

I decided to do something different with Somewhere Over the Rainbow Chipboard and try to make a sort of reverse rainbow.

Image

I kept the rainbow really subtle with just a hint of grey to give it definition & concentrated the colour on the chippie. A hint of shimmer with Wink of Stella, a layer of Glossy Accents & a blue sky & there it was finished. What do you think?

Image

I do love the dimension chippies add to cards.

Image

Here's a close up of the Wink of Stella on the top edges of the bands of the rainbow. Difficult to capture on camera as it's subtle, but I really thinks it makes a difference.

Image

I hope my rainbow has made you smile.

Clean & Simple with Tiddly Inks

It's challenge time again over at Tiddy Inks Challenge blog & this month the theme is 'Clean and Simple'. Well most of your now I'm the Queen of Clean & Simple at the best of times so I thought I'd better go Ultra Clean & Simple for this one.

Image

It's an idea I've had in my head for a while. Luckily not a card I'm making with anyone in mind, but they're always hard cards so handy to have made. I used Grandma's Lilies as the focal point & typed a simple sentiment using Great Vibes font.

Image

Unfortunately I forgot how difficult white & green are to photograph. The lilies have a touch of pale green in the shading & going up the base of the petals which just doesn't catch on camera. I also added a touch of Wink of Stella so they shimmer in the light - you can sort of see it in the next photo, but not properly. One day I will learn to make things that are easy to photograph!

Image

A simple sentiment highlighted with Sakura Stardust pen.

Image

Simple, but heart felt. It's a card I hope I don't have to send for a very long time.

I'd Walk a Tightrope with Tiddly Ink Stamps

Well this new digi from Tiddly Inks made me think of a certain film .... I'm sure you can guess which it is. I've watched it several times already & constantly have the soundtrack in my head. I thought I'd have fun with 'Walk a Tight Rope Wryn' and try to make  it look as though she's walking right up high in the Big Top with a spotlight catching her. It was a bit of an experiment, but I like how it turned out.

Image

Here's her close up! I coloured her with Copics and then did the spotlight & background with Distress Inks.

Image

Any self respecting performer has a few sparkles, so I added that to her costume using Sakura stardust gel pens. They only show the sparkle at certain angles.

Image

I printed the sentiment on my laser printer & then applied fuchsia pink foil using my Foil Master machine. I do love the shine and it meant it stayed vibrant through the Distress Ink.

Image

I will admit this card makes me smile when I look at it.

Pregnancy Journal with Make it Crafty

It's an exciting time in our family at the moment. My sister & her husband are expecting their first baby! I'm really looking forward to meeting my new niece or nephew - but there's a while to wait yet. My sister is keeping a pregnancy journal and asked me to create something for one of the pages. Geeky Love Expecting was the obvious choice for me. I do love that geeky couple!
Here's the page I created.

Image

The sentiment is significant - yes it says the obvious, but it's in the font I used to make their wedding invitations last year. A little thing I know, but meaningful.

Image

A little added shimmer is always a good thing!

Image

I do love the expression on Geeky Love Expecting's faces. They just look so happy!

Image

I'm looking forward to seeing how her Pregnancy Journal fills up.

Topsy Turvy with Tiddly Ink Stamps

I'm totally and utterly in love with this new image from Tiddly Ink Stamps! As soon as I saw her she reminded me of me - I'll admit I'm just a little quirky like this. Christy was kind enough to do a version without the cat & this sentiment just popped into my head!

Image

Yes you are allowed to laugh at the mental image of me trying to look in the mirror to confirm what legs look like in that angle. Observations are a) Trying to do anything approaching this with balance difficulties is not to be recommended and b) Miss Topsy Turvy Wryn has lovely legs and I have leg envy! :P

Image

Do you look at the world a little differently too? I find it's by far the best way!

A Trip to the Races with Make it Crafty

I decided to challenge myself and go for a different colour palette than my usual bright & bold with this card for the Make it Crafty Colouring Challenge. The theme is Anything Goes so it's a nice easy one. I chose Chantelle at the Races as it's been racing season here recently with coverage of all the big hats at Ascot etc (and the horse racing too I think, but the hats seem to get as much coverage as the actual racing!).

Image

Here she is in all her finery! I added a shimmer of Wink of Stella to the highlights of her dress so it looks a little bit like taffeta. I kept her hair, flowers & feathers light in colour.

Image

I teamed her with chippies - Hello from Friend Adapt-a-word Chipboard set and the 2" Friend Brush Script Chipboard. I coloured them with Copics and then added Wink of Stella.

Image

I hope you like her.

Anything Goes with Tiddly Inks

Well it's time for the July Challenge over at the Tiddly Inks Challenge & this month it's the flexible Anything Goes! So get your Tiddly Inks out and get creating.

My creation seemed meant to be! I'd chosen this page from the Friendship Days Colouring Book & printed it out, but then had a brief pause before colouring to investigate the source of a buzzing noise in the loft. Imagine my surprise to find a colony of Bumblebees who've made a nest up there! A consultation of Google shows that they're Tree Bumblebees - (Bombus hypnorum) that have appeared in the UK since 2001 and do often nest in the roof space of houses, or in bird boxes. They're harmless unless disturbed. I did rather like the quote from this article that said 'If the person is just concerned because of the drone clouds, I aim to educate the caller to enjoy the spectacle and feel honoured to be a “Bee Landlord”. Unless they fiddle with the nest, they should be perfectly safe.'

So my colouring page just had to be coloured in Tree Bumblebee colours of Ginger thorax (well hair), black body & white tail stripes..... and lots of bumblebee fluff!

Image

How cute is this Tiddly Bumblebee! I wanted to make her as fluffy as she could be.

Image

I finished her off with some chipboard words from Make it Crafty that I coloured with Sakura Glaze gel pens. I printed the colouring page at 1/4 of an A4 sheet so it will make a nice card.

Image

Here are some pictures of our bee tenants. One came down & sat on the table for a while so I managed to get some close ups.

Image

There's a lot of bees up there. At least I know what the buzzing noise is now.

CC Designs Twinchies

There's a challenge over at CC Designs this month to make 'Twinchies' - cards that are 2" by 2"! Not something I've ever tried before so I decided to give it a go and join in. In typical me style I got carried away & rather than creating one I made four - well I could hardly use one Roberto Rascals Rockabilly Girl  from CC Designs and leave the rest out could I?

Image

Twinchies are challenging, but turned out to be fun! Look how diddy these cards are!

Image

Here they are in a line up! I've never made Twinchies before, but I think I might again.

CC Designs is stopping selling digis at the end of June so grab them ASAP.
