Because it isn't really about anything. I need to think about what I could use as a theme, and then write around it, but basically this is what happened: Danica finally started playing soccer with her soccer team. She's not fantastic all the sudden, but she IS running and chasing and trying to catch girls who steal the ball and trying to steal the ball back. And a nice Dad took a bunch of pictures last week so I thought I would present them to you.
In other Danica news, she has her first recital this weekend. She's super, super excited. Mostly for the being on stage part. Yesterday at dress rehearsal she got up there and just glowed. She might not be the best at, you know, knowing the routine, but she loves the spotlight.
Oh, yeah, the other children.
You thought I forgot them didn't you? Or maybe just they aren't doing the cutest things and so aren't bloggable right now? Well?
Not true. I mean, Sabrina the other day put on her swimsuit and asked for sunscreen and announced she was going to Nana's to swim. And I wondered how she would get there and she said she'd walk. Then a few minutes later she amended and said she'd go to the garage and watch Wild Kratts, which means get in the van, so apparently she's mastered some kind of mind control locomotion. Or maybe she doesn't "see" me when I drive and thinks the van works like one of those new Google car things. I wonder if I will read back on this post someday and laugh at how we all used to actually drive ourselves places.
We went to the zoo a few weeks ago. Holy cow, this month has gone fast. It was a perfect, perfect spring day. Look at all the incredible flowers! Not too hot, not too crowded. Delightful. Well, most of it. The only hiccup was that I have a 2 1/2 year old. Much like bringing a timed bomb with you everywhere you go. A timed bomb where the timer is random, and explosions can be triggered. Toddlers are awesome.
This peacock likes to hang out by the lunch tables because he's no dummy.
The petting zoo. Took Sabrina a bit to warm up but not so much the other kids.
In my head I thought hey, I'll spring for the train ride because I didn't buy a zoo pass this year, I bought a museum pass, and I'm trying to stick to one pass a year (preserving some sense of novelty and whatever...also money) and so we won't be back for awhile and...Sabrina loved it. She loves trains. She thinks they are the best. They go "chuga-chuga" and "toot-toot!"
What I will spare you is the video of what happened immediately after the train ride. Did you guess and epic tantrum wherein Sabrina had to be lifted, arching and screaming off the train and did not calm down for a good ten minutes? You did! You must have experience with toddlers.
This was the corn? snake Gage fell in love with. He still remembers its name. Sadly, I am pretty opposed to the idea of a snake in the house. It's Joel's fault. I know all the stories from when his snake would escape. I'm not excited about finding a snake hiding under my laundry.
Plethora of pictures. I braided Sabrina's hair for the first time:
Next post: recital. This was picture day. Really, she LOVES the dressing up to be on stage part.
