smiles

while my mom was here, she was able to get peanut to smile. even giggle.
Image

ever since then, i've been trying to get his almost constant smiles on camera without too much luck. from today:

i really think in this second one he's sticking his tongue out on purpose.

in other news, the boys are taking good care of him, even when he is asleep.

Peanut!

In June, Peter Bryan Lufkin joined our crazy little family. The boys have loved him from the moment they saw him (sigh of relief!).

Bobbi

ImageIn February, Bobbi Lou joined our family. She's an Australian Cattle Dog, and she is very fun and very active. Most of these photos are from when we first got her, so she is much bigger now, but she's just part of the family (thinks she's between van and noah in the pecking order) with her favorite being John. She smart, so very good with the boys and pretty obedient for the most part.

a favorite from the past six months

for a while now, when selecting their clothes, the boys have been very interested in making them "all (insert specific color)". examples as follows.

(on this day, three of us were all yellow).

we're back!

Each month I didn't update the blog, it became easier and easier to NOT update it. Then, we debated whether or not we should just call it a day. While I'm not taking that possibility off the table, we thought we'd give it one last chance to keep going. After all, it's been more than seven years since we started this and even if I am the only one who looks at it, I'll still try to do it for me. That being said, here's what you missed.

in february, we got a puppy. we also celebrated the boys birthdays.
Image

in march, john and i celebrated our eighth anniversary
Image

in april, my parents came to visit and we also purchased a honda pilot (the 6th car we've owned since we've been married!). we also celebrated john's 35th birthday.
Image

in may, we started the renovation on one of our bathrooms, van finishes up preschool and i worked a million hours.
Image

june was a bit of a blur as peanut joins the family and we get a lot less sleep. john and van go to a first baseball game (Salt Lake Bees). we get used to being a family of five (and a dog).
Image

in july, boston cousins come to visit. van learns to ride a bike without training wheels. van and noah do swimming lessons.
Image

august starts with a trip for me and the boys to cali to see family, friends and the beach. we also camped in the backyard, finally finished the bathroom shower, take the boys to play tennis for the first time, paint the exterior of our home, and van starts school (yes, we have a kindergartner!).

and that's the roundup. hopefully i can keep up from here on out.

christmas

for whatever reason, we somehow managed to not take very many photos on the big day itself. here is one of the only ones i got.
Image

what i do want to remember about christmas this year is how much the boys loved singing christmas music. rudolph the red nosed reindeer (the straight no chaser version, NOT dean martin - van didn't like him to be called "rudy" ) was played over and over. they are still singing about rudolph and since reindeers are a lot like horses, we automatically love them :)

o christmas tree

the boys helped us pick out the perfect one (and loved running around the lot!) and decorate it. i love, love, love real trees. for whatever reason, they had a much harder time leaving the tree alone this year. almost every ornament except the ones on the very top had been moved 5+ times by the time we took it back down.
