Personality: Aoi Tohsaka, nee Zenjou, is the wife of Tokiomi Tohsaka and mother of Rin and Sakura Tohska. The Zenjous have no magic of their own, instead marrying into existed magus families for status; Aoi was raised with that in mind, into a proper lady nevertheless aware of the world of magi, and what it entailed. She is kind and caring, but also rather passive; whilst she is happy being Tokiomi's wife and loves him dearly, the major choices within her life (marrying him, losing Sakura) were not her decisions; she only consented, in the latter case unwillingly. Having lost Sakura already, seeing Kariya destroy himself and apparently kill Tokiomi is what makes her break (though this is after episode 10).
A lot of this may be down to being a non-magus in the magus world; when Rin runs away to Fuyuki in episode 10, Aoi chases after her, aware she is running into a magical battlefield. She loves her daughters - both of them - dearly; being wounded by the loss of Sakura more than she lets on and secretly blaming the Matous for asking for her; including Kariya once she mistakenly believes he killed Tokiomi. She is, in short, trying to hang on to her peaceful, ordinary life. She seems considerably more aware of the risks than her husband, certainly; trusting him, but worrying all the same.
Between her family and her husband's own love for magecraft, she does not hate the practise, she dislikes more the society behind it, preferring to avoid it where possible. What choices she can make, she sticks by and mean a lot to her - for instance, marrying Tokiomi, despite it being arranged by her parents, was fine because they were already in love. Kariya's failure to recognise this - that was also her own decision - is part of why she snaps at him after her husband's death.
Regarding Sakura, though she resents her loss, she seems to direct this more towards the Matou as noted rather than Tokiomi. The odd thing is, Tokiomi is a genuinely loving father, who thought he was doing what's best in sending her to live with the Matou family. Aoi, having known him for a long time, is aware of this fact and forgave him for it; entrusting Sakura to Kariya (Rin and Sakura's 'uncle'). Instead, she blames Zouken, and the fact that their families are mages.
To Rin and Sakura, she was a caring mother whilst Tokiomi played more the role of the all-knowing teacher. Kirei she found an acquaintance of sorts, whom she trusted due to her friendship with his father Risei (as an aside, like the rest of her family, she is also a Japanese Christian). Kariya to her was only ever a friend; whilst she was likely aware of his affections to some degree, she made her choice to marry Tokiomi and trusted Kariya to accept this. The Grail War is where it all breaks down for her. Tokiomi, of course, she found charming, passionate and intelligent, and also a kind teacher in his way (notably, one of the few people in the Grail war actually concerned for the fate of civilians...), and they each understand each other incredibly well.
Aoi is the type to form strong bonds with people; she trusts and accepts easily, and always aims to be the calmer voice of reason when things get out of control. She is naturally considerate and empathic. Her main issue is largely deference; not fighting to keep Sakura, for example. In short, she's a little too easy to push over; not being assertive and avoiding confrontations. As noted though, her love for her family is real, happy coincidence that it was; don't make the mistake of thinking she didn't marry Tokiomi when she didn't want to.
Abilities: None at all, though she is aware of magecraft and probably knows a little (ie just picking up bits of theory via Tokiomi and her upbringing), she has no magical circuits with which to practise it.
